For our Asian readers celebrating the Lunar New Year, here’s a popular treat to keep things sweet and nice during the festive season.
2 Asian pears (eg Nashi or Ya)
4 teaspoons Buzz Honey honey of choice
2 dried Chinese dates, softened in cold water, pits removed lemon juice to brush on the pears to prevent discoloration
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes
Yields: 2 servings
1 Wash and dry the pears.
2 Slice the tops off and remove the core.
3 Cut off a small slice at the bottom so that the pear will stand straight during steaming.
4 Insert one date in each fruit.
5 Spoon 2 teaspoons honey into each pear.
6 Place the top back on the pear. Brush the lemon juice over the skin of the pear.
7 Place the pears on a plate over a rack and steam in a pot for 30 minutes, or until the pears are tender.
8 Serve warm.
