Many people are unsure of how to eat and serve honeycomb.
There are different opinions out there on which is the best way to eat honeycomb. Our beekeepers refer to it as ‘nature’s chewing gum’ and chew on it until they’re satisfied they’ve got all the honey and then simply spit it out. Where as others enjoy swallowing it like they would with any other food. It really comes down to personal preference. Do you spit it out or swallow it whole?
To serve up honeycomb you need a warm knife to cut through the comb. An easy way to do this is to run your knife under hot water until the metal becomes hot to touch. This will then slice easily through the comb and you can cut it to any shape you desire.
Honeycomb Serving Suggestions
Honeycomb and honey can take your cheese platter to a whole new level. Here at Buzz we pair our Blue Gum Honeycomb with a creamy Brie or for those who enjoy a strong flavour try our Leatherwood honey on a strong Blue cheese.
Honeycomb is also an impressive garnish for desserts. The citrus fragrance of our Orange Blossom Honeycomb complements a chocolate dessert creating that classic Jaffa aroma of orange and chocolate.
